R&D Analytical Scientist II

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform Wet Chemistry and Liquid Chromatographic testing for API, Excipients and Products under Development and Stability phases. With most emphasis on Wet Chemistry testing.
  2. To carryout wet chemistry and liquid chromatographic Analytical Method Comparisons, Analytical Method Verifications, Analytical Method Transfers and Analytical Method Development and Validation as requested.
  3. Assist when necessary in wet chemistry and liquid chromatographic Analytical Formulation activities of in-house newly developed formulations.
  4. To ensure that work is carried out safely in line with the organization’s policies and the relevant legislation.
  5. To ensure that work is carried out in compliance with the organization’s quality system. Ensure that quality documentation is generated and updated to reflect current best practice and that this is done in a timely manner.
  6. To harness good communication within the team and with other departments within the company.
  7. To take ownership and ensure all personally assigned systems and procedures are carried out and controlled in line with internal organization’s policies.
  8. Develops familiarity with basic and advanced laboratory equipment (operation, raw data processing, basic maintenance and calibration and qualification). Ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with cGMP requirements.
  9. To Prepare, Review and Check basic and advanced area documentation (Laboratory notebooks, laboratory reagent logbook, SOPs, Protocols, Reports and Specification Sheets).
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

KNOWLEDGE
Must possess knowledge of operating systems within a highly regulated pharmaceutical laboratory.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills and computer skills including Excel, Word and lotus notes. Be able to work as a flexible member of a team, Quality Orientated, Housekeeping Aware.
SUPERVISION
This position is supervised by the R&D Analytical Manager. This position will also take leadership from the senior analytical staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
PhD or relevant MSc degree in a science related discipline (Preferably Chemistry) with 1-2 years Pharmaceutical industrial experience or Bachelor’s degree in a science related discipline (Preferably Chemistry) with 2-3 years Pharmaceutical industrial experience.
However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
None required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret general business documents. Ability to write routine reports and general business correspondence. Ability to work with peers and communicate basic concepts.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
College level mathematics ability required.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems through standardized solutions that require limited judgment. Ability to follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve routine problems.
