ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRIMARY/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the deployment of the OE program (kickoff, educating the site on program basics, initial portfolio identification and execution of quick wins).
- Make a consistent presence in the office areas, work areas/shop floor/labs through gemba walks, 5S activity, Kaizen events, implementation of visual management, etc.
- Coordinate with site leadership and project managers to execute projects hitting financial and non-financial targets assigned to the site (below are the priority metrics categories for 2011);
a. Right First Time
b. Cycle Time
c. Sustained financial benefit
d. Education and Mentoring
- Service as Project Manager for Bioniche?s Right First Time effort.
- Work with the site at various levels to identify project opportunities using both top-down and bottom-up techniques.
- Work with site and regional leadership/OE Steering Committee to facilitate project prioritization/selection, funding and project manager identification.
- Work directly with the team members or with their team leaders to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual Team members on their appointed tasks.
- Forge a close partnership with site Finance leaders and coordinate detailed financial analysis and project tracking for all projects in the Bioniche OE portfolio.
- Manage the site and headquarters OE portfolio (maintain current listings, keep awareness of project status and benefit totals, etc).
- Manage approved OE training plans for all project managers and other interested parties (training plan write-up, monitoring execution of courses and other learning items, coaching toward certification as applicable).
- Coach project managers and project team members in problem solving (Lean, Six Sigma), project management and change management.
- Provide both formal and informal training in problem solving, project management, change management and in OE program basics to a variety of levels in the organization.
- Stay current in industry practices (both OE and site technical processes) and continue to become educated in the OE discipline.
- Coordinate with the OE network and others to develop and share best practices.
- Perform data acquisition, analysis and reporting on selected, key metrics.
- Report specific information periodically to fulfill Global, Regional and Local requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of process improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma). Understanding of project and portfolio management techniques. Working knowledge of cGMP requirements. Understanding of complexities working in highly regulated environments. Experience with application of business process improvement in the laboratory and technical areas. Knowledge of sterile injectables or pharmaceutical processes an advantage (Quality, Manufacturing, Packaging, Distribution).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Excellent communication across a range of boundaries (functional, regional, level) and in a variety of settings (1 on 1, small groups, public speaking).
2. Deep analytical skill.
3. Ability to learn processes and problem solving techniques quickly. Ability to lead indirectly and to lead people through change activities.
4. Proficiency in Excel data analysis and in detailed analysis using Minitab (or equivalent) software is strongly preferred.
SUPERVISION
Position functions autonomously with periodic oversight from site, regional and global levels. Position does not typically have direct reports, although indirect influence is a consistent demand. This position reports to two different leaders (dual solid line).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience. Degrees (or equivalent experience) in technical disciplines are preferred. A Master's degree in a technical field or in operations management or an MBA is a plus.
However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Certification (or equivalent) at Black Belt level in one or more Operational Excellence disciplines (Lean, Six Sigma).
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents. Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence. Ability to work with managers or directors and communicate ambiguous concepts. Ability to present to groups across the organization. Ability to read, interpret and present data in tabular and graphical formats. Fluent in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform intermediate level calculations (ratios, complex formulas, etc) is required. Ability to perform complex mathematical functions (simulation, linear and non-linear forecasting, etc) would be a plus.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve problems with complex variables through non-standardized solutions that require independent judgment and analysis. Ability to draw inferences and use deductive reasoning with no prescribed procedures to solve complex problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position requires frequent walking, bending and ascending/descending stairs in production environments. Position typically does not require any lifting. Position requires infrequent travel (up to 4 weeks per year) for visits to other sites or to global conferences.
